Latest Transfer News: Messi, Manutd, Manchester City, Chelsea,
Lionel Messi's logjam with Barcelona continues, with the superstar's issues with club officials
now seemingly becoming a case of who blinks first.
Messi remains resolute that he should be allowed to leave the Nou Camp on a free transfer,
but Barca says that clause has died and is no longer able to be activated.
Manchester City, Manchester United, PSG and others wait to see the result of that row, there
are plenty of other potential deals in the pipeline as the season approaches.
Liverpool are still expected to improve their pursuit of Bayern Munich's Thiago Alcantara,
while their weekend opponents Arsenal are on tenterhooks to announce the Lille defender
Gabriel and a new contract for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is impending.
Chelsea’s move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz is being delayed by the
Bundesliga club’s demands over the payment of add ons.
The Blues are extensively believed to be close to an agreement for the German international,
with Lampard having made the signing of Havertz of prime importance for the summer
transfer window, but negotiations are dragging on somewhat.
According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, this is due to the add-ons and bonuses Bayer
Leverkusen want to be included in the deal for the player.
“They’re very close, the parties, because of the price,” said Falk (as per the Daily Star). “It’s
a question of add-ons - €80m should be paid directly and then €10m and €10m. The hold-up
is when.”
Sandro Tonali has made quite an impression at Brescia, having played more than 80 games
for the Italian club and made his international debut as a teenager.
The midfielder has attracted plenty of interest following the Biancazzurri’s relegation to Serie
B, with Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) reporting that there has been “a phone call”
from United over a potential deal.
However, the English side are expected to face an uphill battle to sign the 20-year-old, with
Brescia owner Massimo Cellino reportedly pushing to complete a move which would see the
player join Inter Milan
